Clowning Around

Everyone needs to smile and to forget things that can cause stress and heart ache. And I cant think of any people more in need of this then the Gazan People. After the 3 wars that they have seen and endured and the massacre of the last summer, their children are being left with scars so deep that they are suffering incredibly high delayed traumas and psychological breakdowns.

Royal Support......

Having friends who you have not seen in years doesn't mean that they don't support you. I thin I haven't seen Danielle Newnham in 20 years, but she has been supporting me as have other girls I went to school with from Queens College. Our whole year turned out to be extremely artistic and very strong and vocal.

After Banksy's Visit....

These kids in this video are amazing. They are on the ground in Gaza. They are telling it like it is. No hiding no faffing around. But they are making it cultured. They know who Banksy is. They sing Hip Hop and on top of that a girl is doing it. She is cool and contemporary.

Open Bethlehem

I have not seen Open Bethlehem, but if the reviews are anything to go by then it seems to be one of those films/documentaries that should not be missed. Bethlehem is an iconic town that represents Joy and Goodwill to all.

Shot over five years the film captures the city of Bethlehem as it has never been seen before. This is an emotional journey of one woman’s fight for her hometown. Leila Sanosur films this as a dedication to her late father who was the founder of Bethlehem university. And the her wanting to leave is something that has come to haunt her. Bethlehem is soon to be encircled by a wall and Leila is documenting this as it happens. A truly heart-breaking situation.

Teach them from when they are young to be strong successful women of our future generations!

GAZA ART

Although this is not necessarily recent, it is still valid. Turning a negative situation into a positive one is always a good thing, and no better way to do it than with art.

Of course everyone and their mother saw what happened last year in Gaza, and if you didn't you must have been on another planet.

Loyd Grossman and I

Being a chef is a hard job and working hard means that you get a great reward after. This has definitely been the case for me. I met Loyd Grossman in my restaurant Baity Kitchen a few years ago. He was a regular there on the weekends. I loved that he loved my place.  I also love him as a person and for all the work he has done and continues to do. His sauces are the best out there!

Trompe L'oeil in Gaza

March 3, 2015

In Gaza where things seem to be pretty unbearable, a young woman has turned her room into a safe haven full of art taking her away from the horrible world outside her window.

Her project is called 100 days of solitude in tribute to Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Novel. But Nidaa Badwan has been in her room for more than a year without leaving. She is willing to die there as she has found nothing better around her.
